Dr. Nelia Barkhordar grew up surrounded by dentistry. As the daughter of Dr. Rahmat Barkhordar — a dual board-certified periodontist and endodontist with over 30 years in practice — and the sister of Dr. Nicole Barkhordar, a Harvard-trained board-certified endodontist, dentistry has always been more than a career. It's a family calling.
After earning her microbiology degree from UC Berkeley, Dr. Nelia completed her dental education at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco, one of the most respected dental programs on the West Coast. She returned home to Belmont to do what she loves most: help patients feel genuinely good about their smile and their health.
Dr. Nelia's approach to dentistry is modern, patient-first, and comprehensive. She has advanced training in:

When she's not in the office, Dr. Nelia is usually talking about teeth anyway — family dinners at the Barkhordar table have a way of turning into dental consultations. She wouldn't have it any other way.
Nicole Barkhordar, DDS, M.Ed
Board Certified Endodontist
Dr. Nicole Barkhordar is a Board Certified Endodontist specializing in Root Canal Treatment and Microsurgery. Dr. Nicole earned her Certificate of Endodontics degree from Harvard School of Dental Medicine and her Masters in Education from Harvard Graduate School of Education. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from University of California San Francisco.
She has been published in the Journal of Materials Science and Engineering for her research in bone as it pertains to Dental Implants at the University of California San Francisco.
Dr. Nicole treats each case with a Dental Microscope in order to provide highly successful, modern and minimally invasive root canal treatment and regenerative treatment. She believes in providing skillful, compassionate, and high-quality dental care in a comfortable and professional environment.
She is an active member of the American Association of Endodontics, American Board of Endodontics, American Dental Association, California Dental Association, Los Angeles County Dental Society and the Alpha Omega Dental Society.
Dr. Nicole is a Faculty Member at UCLA School of Dentistry Dr. Nicole has held teaching positions at Harvard School of Dental Medicine, University of the Pacific School of Dentistry, and University of the California San Francisco School of Dentistry.
Dr. Nicole enjoys playing the piano and outdoor activities, and is fluent in Spanish and Farsi.
Rahmat Barkhordar, DMD
Board Certified Periodontist, Endodontist, & Implantologist
Dr. Barkhordar is a board certified Periodontist (gum specialist) and Endodontist (root canal specialist) and is therefore able to comprehensively address all dental and oral health needs. Dr. Rahmat graduated with a dual specialty dental degree from University of Pennsylvania, College of Dentistry and has been a storied faculty member of University of California San Francisco (UCSF) School of Dentistry in the Endodontics Department, as well as a faculty member of University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in the Periodontics Department. He has been in private practice for more than 30 years providing comprehensive dental and specialty care in the Bay Area. His favorite activities include going to Yosemite, Carmel and Monterey, spending time with family, children and his grandchildren, and taking our family dog Louie for daily walks!
